U.S. Reps. Don Bacon and Brian Fitzpatrick Join Courage Action for Ukraine Peace Negotiations Briefing
Courage Action hosted a national briefing with Reps. Bacon and Fitzpatrick on the current state of Ukraine peace negotiations and related Congressional considerations.

Members of the U.S. House Intelligence and Armed Services Committees warn that: Any peace plan must reject capitulation to Russia; Ensure Ukraine’s sovereignty, safety, and freedom, and; Protect America’s long-term security.
Today, U.S. House Representatives Don Bacon (NE-2) and Brian Fitzpatrick (PA-1) joined Courage Action for a national press briefing examining the current state of U.S. / Ukraine / Russia peace negotiations. Hosted by Courage Action co-founder and Board Member Kahlil (KB) Byrd, the discussion focused on the stakes for American security, the dangers of misinformation and propaganda, and the path toward a just and durable peace.

Byrd said: “During this crucial moment for our nation, along with several committed Americans, we created Courage Action to support the type of leaders we will hear from today – especially as we hit societal red lines for American democracy. Today’s guests, Reps. Brian Fitzpatrick and Don Bacon, are two extraordinary members of Congress who exemplify this spirit.”
As two of Congress’s most outspoken advocates for Ukraine, they provided perspective on the negotiations, Russia’s strategy, and why any agreement must be grounded in strength, not concession.
Rep. Fitzpatrick said: “I’ve seen throughout history time and time again how successful Russia has been in advancing their missions through the use of propaganda. They are the
masters, they’re world-class propagandists, much like China is better than anybody at economic manipulation. Russia is better than anybody at using propaganda tools to advance their mission. We just have to be clear-eyed about that – we all want peace, but it’s got to be a just and lasting peace with dignity. That’s very, very important.”
Rep. Bacon said: “When you’re telling Ukraine they have to give up more territory, they can’t be part of NATO, they can’t have foreign troops on their soil, they have to reduce the size of their military…it was a recipe for Russian domination of Ukraine for decades to come. And it would’ve been an avenue for Russia to renew its invasion at any time; Ukraine would’ve been defenseless.”
Both members repeatedly warn against any peace framework that rewards Russia for invading Ukraine. They argue that concessions such as giving up territory, limiting Ukraine’s military, or blocking NATO membership would replicate the failures of the Munich appeasement strategy when Great Britain and France conceded to Hitler’s demands in 1938, ultimately undermining the long-term stability of Europe.
